Forced perspective is a type of optical illusion wherein each subject or object is strategically placed to appear farther away, closer, larger or smaller than its actual size. Although this technique has been applied in visual arts throughout history, its widespread use and sharing of such photos likely began sometime after consumer digital cameras were introduced in the ealry 2000s.
